BOSTON, Mass. - Senior defender Jenna Baverman (Baltimore, Md./Roland Park Country School) was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending April 8, the conference announced Monday. This is the second week in a row and third time this season that a Retriever has been named Defensive Player of the Week, as Carly Tolino earned the award last week and the week of February 18.
In a 2-0 week for the Retrievers, Baverman caused eight turnovers and picked up nine ground balls. On April 3 against Binghamton, Baverman led the team with three caused turnovers while also picking up three ground balls.
On Saturday, in a 16-1 victory over Hartford, Baverman was again the team leader with five caused miscues and six ground balls - both career highs marks for the defender. She was also part of a defense that held the Hawks scoreless for nearly 57 minutes and only surrendered one goal.
Baverman and the Retrievers return to the field on Saturday, April 13 as they face the New Hampshire Wildcats at 10 a.m.
