BOSTON, Mass. - Women's lacrosse senior goalkeeper Carly Tolino (Middletown, Md./Middletown) was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending 2/17, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Tolino made 28 saves and posted a .636 save percentage with two caused turnovers and five groundballs in a perfect 2-0 week for the Retrievers. In a 9-8 overtime victory against American on February 13 to open the season, Tolino made a career-high 17 saves, following it up with an 11-save performance in an 11-8 win over VCU on February 16.
Tolino currently leads the America East in save percentage and is second in the conference in goals against average (7.74).
The Retrievers will open the 2019 home season on Wednesday, Feb. 20 as they welcome Mount St. Mary's to UMBC Stadium at 5 p.m.
