Kayla Stroman joined the UMBC women's basketball coaching staff in August of 2015, as the Retrievers' Director of Basketball Operations.
Stroman earned three collegiate letters during her time at Niagara University. The point guard started out her career in outstanding fashion, being named the 2009-10 MAAC Rookie of the Year and earning a spot on the MAAC All-Rookie Team. After red-shirting in her second season with the Purple Eagles, Stroman earned All-MAAC Second Team honors as a red-shirt sophomore after leading the team at 10.8 points per game.
Stroman, who graduated from Niagara in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Business, followed by playing one season at Division II Le Moyne (N.Y.) College to conclude her collegiate playing days. During her time with the Dolphins, Stroman earned a masters in business administration (2014).
The Syracuse, N.Y., native has worked as an assistant camp director for the Mr. B’s Co-Ed Basketball Camp since 2007, where she gained experience assisting campers with individual basketball instruction, as well being heavily involved with the scheduling of the camp’s daily activities.
Stoman also gained coaching experience at the Jim Boeheim’s Big Orange Basketball Camp, where she served as both a coach and a referee since 2010.
