Courtany Pilypaitis joined the UMBC staff as an assistant coach in June 2016.
Pilypaitis comes to UMBC having spent four years as an assistant coach at her alma mater. During her four year career with the Catamounts, Pilypaitis amassed over 1,900 points, 800 rebounds, and 600 assists. She finished with 1,993 points scored, 905 rebounds, and 636 assists in 4,060 minutes played.
Pilypaitis led the Catamounts to back-to-back America East Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2009-10. The four-time all-conference selection helped Vermont earn their first ever NCAA Tournament win with an upset against Wisconsin in 2010. She earned America East Rookie of the Year honors, as well as being named conference Player of the Year as a sophomore.
Following graduation, she pursued a professional basketball career, playing two seasons for VICI Kaunas in Lithuania. VICI won back-to-back Lithuanian Cup and BWBL Championships and Pilypaitis was named Eurobasket.com All-Lithuanian and LMKL Import Player of the Year both years. She was also a two-time all-league selection.
The Orleans, Ontario native also spent time as a member of the Canadian National Women's Basketball team, having most recently played with Team Canada in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Pilypaitis earned a bachelors' of science degree in public communications in 2010.
