Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC women's basketball looks to continue their strong start to the season against local-rival Towson on Tuesday night. The Retrievers are 6-0 on the year, the best start to a season in program history, and are coming off an 81-43 win against Notre Dame of Maryland on Friday.

Scouting the Retrievers:
-UMBC is off to their best start in program history at 6-0 after defeating Notre Dame of Maryland 81-43 on Friday night. The duo of Janee'a Summers (Bound Brook, N.J.) and Dominika Skrocka (Moscow, Russia) led the way with 17 and 12 points respectively. For Summers, it was her sixth straight game hitting double figures.
-Summers leads the Retriever offense averaging 15.2 ppg and collecting 6.3 rpg. Te'yJah Oliver (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) and Skrocka are both over 9.0 ppg at 9.5 and 9.3 respectively. UMBC is averaging 68.8 ppg while holding opponents to just 49.8 ppg, 25th best in the country.
-The Retrievers lead the America East in scoring defense and Summers is sixth in conference in scoring and rebounding. Skrocka leads the league in both 3FG percentage (40.9) and three pointers made (18).
Scouting the Tigers:
-Towson is riding a two-game win streak after most recently defeating La Salle, 92-68. The Tigers picked up their first win over the Explorers since 1979 thanks to three Tigers hitting double figures, led by Kionna Jeter with 32.
-Jeter leads the team with 24.0 ppg, 13th best in the nation. Jaylnn Holmes and Nukiya Mayo are both over 10 ppg at 11.0 and 14.5 respectively. Mayo leads the team with 7.0 rpg. As a team, the Tigers are shooting 40.6 percent from the floor, scoring at a 74.3 ppg clip.
-This will be the 53rd time the two rivals will be meeting with the Tigers leading the series 38-14. Towson has won the last seven matchups, with the last Retriever win coming in 2010.
-Last year the Tigers won a 95-64 meeting at SECU Arena. Laura Castaldo led the Retrievers with 24 points, and Janee'a Summers recording her second double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds going 6-11 from the foul line.
Stern Approaching Milestone:
-UMBC bench boss Phil Stern is in his 17th season at the helm of the Retrievers and his 23rd season overall. Stern recorded win number 200 with UMBC on Friday against Notre Dame of Maryland. He now has 294 career wins, over 23 years of coaching.
-The Retrievers will have off for the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to the hardwood on Wednesday, Nov. 28 against American. Tip-off with the Eagles is set for 7 p.m. in D.C.
