Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC women's basketball looks to continue their best start in program history against Notre Dame of Maryland on Friday night. The Retrievers are 5-0 after defeating Coppin State 57-52 on Wednesday in come-from-behind fashion. With a win on Friday, head coach Phil Stern will win his 200th game at UMBC. He has been the head man since the 2002-03 season.

Scouting the Retrievers:
-UMBC is off to their best start in program history at 5-0. The previous best was a 4-0 start in the 1985-86 season. The Retrievers defeated Coppin State on Wednesday afternoon, 57--52 in another comeback fashion, ending the game on a 12-1 run.
-Sophomore Janee'a Summers (Bound Brook, N.J.) leads the team in scoring at 14.8 ppg, having scored double digits in every game this year. She is grabbing 6.4 rpg with 13 offensive rebounds. Junior Te'yJah Oliver (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) is the only other Retriever in double figures, scoring at a 10.4 ppg clip with nine steals. Dominika Skrocka (Moscow, Russia) is averaging 8.8 ppg, shooting 40 percent from three.
Scouting the Gators:
-The Gators come into the contest at 0-1, falling to Washington College 66-44 in their season opener on Wednesday night. NDMU went 7-18, 3-13 CSAC a year ago, going 0-9 in games on the road.
-Vanessa Dunn led the Gators against Washington College with nine points on 3-7 shooting. Eight different Gators scored in the contest, with no one reaching double figures. Keyeria Dawson led NDMU on the boards, collecting eight rebounds.
-This will be the 15th time that the two sides meet, and the first time since 1985. The Retrievers hold a 10-4 lead in the series, having won the last five meetings.
-UMBC defeated the Gators 93-81 back on January 24, 1985 on the road.
-Summers was named to the Seton Hall Classic All-Tournament Team, scoring in double figures in each of her first four games. Rubio scored 12 points in her first collegiate game, and is averaging 2.0 assists per game over her first four games.
Stern Approaching Milestones:
-UMBC bench boss Phil Stern is in his 17th season at the helm of the Retrievers and his 23rd season overall. With a win against the Gators, Stern will reach win number 200 with UMBC. He has 293 wins in his career, and can reach the 300 win mark later in the year.
-UMBC will have the weekend off before hosting rival Towson on Tuesday night. The Tigers and Retrievers tip-off at 7 p.m. on ESPN+ with Troy Green, Raven Harris and Pandora Wilson on the call.
