Baltimore, Md.—UMBC women's basketball concludes their three-game homestand against UMass Lowell on Saturday at the RAC. The Retrievers have lost 13 in a row, coming off a 64-50 loss to Maine on Wednesday morning. Sophomore Lucrezia Costa (Rome, Italy) led the way with a season best 12 points.

Scouting the Retrievers:

-UMBC is coming off a 64-50 defeat at the hands of Maine on Wednesday at the RAC. Sophomore forward Lucrezia Costa led the way with a season best 12 points. Allison McGrath (South Park, Pa./South Park) chipped in nine points on 3-6 shooting from three, while senior Brittani Burgess (White Plains, Md./St. Mary's Ryken/VCU) tied career highs with nine points and seven rebounds.

-Senior guard Laura Castaldo (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) leads the Retriever offense that is averaging 51.0 ppg, by averaging 12.5 ppg. She is pulling down 3.6 rpg, shooting 32.3 percent from three. Sophomore Te'yJah Oliver (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) is scoring at an 8.2 ppg clip with freshman Janee'a Summers (Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook) leads the team at 6.2 rpg, averaging 7.6 ppg.

Scouting the River Hawks:

-UMass Lowell is coming off an 81-42 loss to Hartford at the Tsongas Center on Wednesday. Kayla Gibbs led the River Hawks with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Katie McKie also hit double figures, scoring ten, going 6-7 from the foul line.

-Two River Hawks are averaging double digit in Gibbs and rookie Paula Lopez. Gibbs leads the team in scoring (13.3 ppg) and rebounding (9.5 rpg), while Lopez is averaging 10.5 ppg, dishing out 2.8 assists per game.

All-Time Series:

-The Retrievers and River Hawks will be meeting for the ninth time in the all-time series with the series deadlocked at 4-4. UMass Lowell won the first four meetings, before UMBC took the most recent four the past two seasons.

-Last year, the Retrievers won a close 79-72 battle in Baltimore, before displacing UMass Lowell 78-62 at the Tsongas Center.

Milestone Watch:

-Laura Castaldo is quickly approaching the top ten in three different categories. She is only five games played and 22 starts from reaching the top ten in program history. Castaldo also need 11 minutes played to join the top ten. She is 29 three pointers away from 150 for her career, while needing 141 points to reach 1,000.

-Sophomores Te'yJah and Tyler Moore (Portsmouth, Va./Norfolk Academy) are closing in on 500 career points, needing 156 and 213 respectively, with Oliver just 15 assists away from 100.

-Head coach Phil Stern can also reach some milestones in 2017-18. He needs 16 wins for 300 in his career and 10 for 200 at UMBC.
