Stern Signs Two to Class of 2022 During Early Signing Period

Baltimore, Md.—UMBC women's basketball head coach Phil Stern announced the signing of two players during the November early signing period on Tuesday. Kayla Jackson and Tania Hill will join the Retrievers as part of the 2022 class in the fall.

The Retrievers will graduate five seniors after the 2017-18 season, and have ten freshman and sophomores on the roster going into the next year.

"We are extremely excited to have two young ladies of Kayla and Tania's character and ability join program.  They both come from great families and will enhance our basketball family in the classroom, community and on the court," Stern said of the two.

5-10 Forward
Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute of Rochester

Stern on Jackson:
"Kayla is a skilled and strong player who will play multiple positions at the college level.  Her ability to post or up face up make her very difficult match up."


Tania Hill
6-0 Guard
Brandywine, Md./Capital Christian Academy

Stern on Hill:
"Tania is a long guard who will play several different positions in our system. She can score in many ways."


UMBC returns to the court on Friday, November 17 when they host LIU Brooklyn at the RAC at 7 p.m. Troy Green, Raven Harris and Pandora Wilson will have the call on ESPN 3.
