BOSTON – UMBC women's basketball's Taylor McCarley (Bowie, Md./Academy of Holy Cross) was nominated for the 2014-15 American East Basketball Fans' Choice Player of the Year, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Voting for the 2015 America East Basketball Fans' Choice Player of the Year opens Monday, March 2 and will go until Thursday, March 5. Voting can be done by clicking here or on the America East Facebook Page. The winner will be announced that afternoon via release at AmericaEast.com.
McCarley ranks second on the squad and seventh in the league in scoring (13.5) during conference play, while also chipping in 5.2 assists per game, second in the conference, and 1.9 steals, tied for fourth in the league. The Bowie, Md., native has tallied 15 double-digit scoring games, 10 of which came during America East action. She added in two 20-point efforts, one of which included a double-double, and a career-best 31-point performance against Vermont on Feb. 14.
The second-year guard has picked up her shooting since America East play has begun, knocking down 43.7 percent from the field and 70.1 percent from the free throw line. McCarley has gotten to the free throw line 205 times on the season and connected on 144, both ranking second all-time in a single-season at UMBC.

-No. 6 UMBC travels to the America East Championships and will take on No. 3 Stony Brook on Saturday, March 7. Tip-off is set for 8:15 p.m. at the Events Center on the campus of Binghamton.
