CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – UMBC women's basketball's sophomore guard Taylor McCarley (Bowie, Md./Academy of Holy Cross) earned the Retrievers' first America East Player of the Week honor of season, as announced by the league office on Monday.
McCarley helped UMBC snap a two-game skid by guiding the Retrievers to an 87-78 victory at UMES on Monday, Dec. 22, by posting career-highs in points (19) and steals (six). The second-year guard also added a season-best seven assists and pulled down five rebounds in the victory.
McCarley knocked down 55.6 percent of her shots against the Lady Hawks and connected on 8-of-10 free throws in the contest. She leads the squad in both free throws made (42) and free throws taken (56) on the season.
The Retrievers jump back into action on Monday, Dec. 29 when they take on Pennsylvania at The Palestra for a 7 p.m. tip.
