CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – UMBC freshman guard Taylor McCarley (Bowie, Md./Academy of Holy Cross) snagged the final America East Rookie of the Week honor of the season, as announced by the league office on Monday.
McCarley was also named the College Sports Madness America East Player of the Week after helping the Retrievers to a 66-60 double overtime victory against Binghamton that clinched the seventh seed in the upcoming America East Championships.
McCarley posted UMBC women's basketball's first-ever triple-double in Saturday afternoon's game, finishing with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the victory. The rookie's triple-double was the first for an America East Player since 2010, when Mo Moran of Boston University tallied one on Nov. 11 against Yale.
The honor is the third of the season from the America East for McCarley and her first from College Sports Madness.
