FIRST-PLACE RED FLASH DEFEAT RETRIEVERS, 57-45

The women's basketball team (4-9, 0-4 NEC) dropped its sixth straight game, a 57-45 decision to first-place St. Francis (PA) (6-7,4-0) in Loretto, PA. UMBC trailed, 26-22 at intermission, and was still within six points at 37-31, with 12 minutes to play. But a 12-1 run by St. Francis put the game out of reach. UMBC hit just 33.3% (17/51) from the floor and committed 23 turnovers. No Retriever scored in double figures as UMBC was led by freshman Matea Pender and Katie Kramer with eight points each.
