WOMEN'S HOOPS RATTLES MARYLAND, BUT FALLS, 60-48

The women's basketball team forced 27 Maryland (8-4) turnovers, but fell to the Terrapins, 60-48 at Cole Field House. UMBC (4-6) has now dropped three straight games. UMBC cut their deficit to 38-35 on a Milette Green basketball with 12:37 to play, but the Terrapins went on a 13-0 run to put the game away. In a bizarre first half, Maryland attempted just 12 field goals, hitting 10 (83.3%) and also coverting all 8 free throw attempts. UMBC trailed, 28-22 at intermission. Junior Shalayna Johnson led UMBC with 12 points, but hit just 5 of 15 from the floor and 1 of 7 from behind the arc. Jessie Brown added 11 points and 4 asssits in all 40 minutes of action, and Green added 10 points in 39 minutes.
