FDU outscored UMBC, 17-5, to open the second half and went on to a 70-60 victory in NEC Women's Basketball action at the Rothman Center. UMBC fell to 6-11, 2-6 NEC, while FDU improved to 10-7, 5-3. The Retrievers hit 15 of 31 shots in the first half, and held FDU to 7 first half field goals, but only led, 34-23 at intermission. But the Retrievers hit just one field goal and two free throws in the first 5:30 of the second half, when FDU took the lead. UMBC battled back, but a 7-0 FDU run with 7:33 to play gave the hosts the lead for good. FDU converted on 17 of 26 shots in the second half of play. Yinka Bada led UMBC with 15 points, while Matea Pender added 13. Jessie Brown added 9 points and 6 assists in 40 minutes of action. The Retrievers were just 7 of 16 from the free throw line.
