The UMBC Softball closes non-conference play with a drive across the Bay Bridge to face in-state rival Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday. The two teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at Hawk Field.
Courtney Coppersmith (York, Pa.) threw her third no-hitter of the season, Sierra Pierce (Youngstown, Ohio) homered twice and Anna Lonchar (Bristow, Va.) hit a walk-off two run home run in extra innings in game two as the UMBC Softball team (21-15, 4-4 AE) swept visiting Delaware State, 2-0 and 10-9 (8), on Saturday.
The two teams met in Baltimore last month, with UMBC scoring a pair of six inning victories, 10-1 and 11-3.
Scouting Maryland Eastern Shore (6-23, 2-6 MEAC):
The Hawks haven't played since last Wednesday, when they split a home doubleheader with North Carolina Central (6-5 (W), 9-1 (L)).
Breana Florez and Stephanie Huff pace the Eastern Shore offense, hitting .328 and .307, respectively. Huff leads the team with 23 hits and 15 RBI, while Florez has team-bests in slugging (.463) and on-base percentage (.446).
Nasya Goodman (3-14) has a team-best 6.50 ERA in 92.2 innings and a save. LeAnn Gingrich is 3-9 with an 8.46 ERA in 67 innings.
