Alexander Repeats as First Team All-Conference, Dawson & Lesko Also Honored; Softball Begins Conference Tournament on Wednesday

Vestal, N.Y.-- Senior Tori Alexander (Woodbridge, Va.) was named to the America East All-Conference for the second consecutive season, while classmate Carly Lesko (New Milford, N.J.) repeated on the All-Academic team and freshman Imani Dawson (Hanover, Md.) earned All-Rookie Team honors at the America East Awards Banquet on the campus of Binghamton University on Tuesday night.

It is Alexander's fourth conference recognition as she was named to the All-Conference Second and All-Rookie Teams her freshman season. Her freshman year was one for the ages as she was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team and earned a spot on the America East All-Rookie Team, while ranking in the top-10 in the league in batting average, on-base percentage, runs scored, hits, total bases, and stolen bases.

After a solid sophomore season, she had an outstanding junior campaign, earning America East First Team All conference honors. That year she ranked in the top five of the conference in stolen bases, second in hits, and doubles. Her senior campaign has been her finest to date as is in the top two or three in the America East in average, runs, hits and stolen bases. She is tenth all-time at UMBC with 209 career hits, sixth in career runs, with 139, and is fourth in stolen bases with 64, having only been caught stealing five times.

Lesko, a Media & Communication Studies Major with a 3.57 GPA, repeats on the All-Academic team, while Dawson earns the All-Rookie nod after leading the Retrievers in homers and having the third-highest average on the team.

UMBC (12-29, 7-10) earned the No.6 seed in the double-elimination America East Tournament and will face third-seeded Stony Brook (23-20, 10-7) on Wednesday at 1:30 pm in Binghamton.
