The UMBC Softball team heads north to play Hartford in its last weekend road series of America East Conference play, starting with a double-header starting at noon on Saturday, and the final game slated for 11 am on Sunday.
UMBC will travel to Stony Brook on Wednesday, May 2nd for a single game to conclude the regular season.
The Retrievers (9-28, 4-9) are paced on offense by sophomore Valerie Hammett's (Mechanicsville, Md.), .341 average. Senior Tori Alexander (Woodbridge, Va.) has been on fire at the plate recently, as her average has climbed to .306, and she also picked up her 200th career hit in last weekend's series against Albany.
Senior Carly Lesko (New Milford, N.J.) leads the team with 17 RBI's. Freshmen Imani Dawson (Hanover, Md.), leads the team with four home runs of the season. In the circle, freshmen pitcher Brianna Baker (Waldorf, Md.) is coming off of a shutout against Albany, while senior Kim Puccio (Sparta, N.J.) leads the pitching staff in every category.
Scouting the Hawks
Hartford (9-25, 0-12) dropped a double-header to Stony Brook last weekend. Danielle Rocheleau leads the Hawks at the plate with .337 average, while slugging .554, and has a team-high 19 RBI's. Hartford's .272 team batting average is good for third in the conference. Lily Sencer has a team high of 36 hits to pair with a .336 average.
