2017: Hard-working junior who lined up in four of six meets, including the America East Championships.


2016: The local product earned three starts for UMBC in the first three meets… Cut 53 seconds off his 8K time at Navy at the ensuing Paul Short Invitational.  


2015: Smart competed in three races during his first year with the Retrievers... Started the year with a time of 17:24 at the Mount 5K Duals... Followed that up the next week at the Wolfie Invite, crossing the tape in a time of 28:34.... He bested his time at the Wolfie Invite, finishing in 28:01 at the Gettysburg Invitational. 


Background: Had his best meet of his career at the Gator Invitational, held by Reservoir High School during his senior season… Helped the distance medley relay team to second place finish, running as the anchor leg… Helped lead Wilde Lake to first place at the Howard County meet, and Maryland 3A Regionals… Team finished second at Maryland 3A State meet during his junior year... Son of Jeff and Yvonne Smart… Has one brother, David…  Lists favorite food as BBQ pizza and favorite pro team as the Baltimore Ravens.
