2017: The Most Valuable Athlete for the Retrievers… UMBC’s No. 1 finisher in the final four meets of the season… Placed 97th overall out of a field of 359 finishers at the Paul Short Invitational.


2016: The team’s co-Most Valuable Athlete for the campaign… Scored in three of five meets and was the Retrievers’ top finisher at the Paul Short Invitational and the Princeton Invitational… Broke the 25-minute mark at Paul Short, leading UMBC for the first time in his career with an 8k time of 24.58.00… Bettered that effort two weeks later at Princeton, producing a 14th place finish in a field of 227 at Princeton… His time of 24:36.6 is the second-fastest in school history, behind only All-American Hassan Omar’s record a year earlier.


2015: Ran in every race for the Retrievers in 2015... Scored in the last two races of the year at the America East Championships (26:42) and the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals (32:25)... His best race was at the Princeton Invitational, where he finished the race in a time of 25:11. 


Background: Transferred from Division III Wesley College… Competed in both cross country and track and field at Thomas Wootten High School… Highly decorated as a high school runner… Was a part of the state championship-winning 4x800m relay squad his junior season… Went unbeaten during his senior season, winning gold in the 800m at the county, region and state levels…  Named 2014 Gazette Outdoor Boys’ Track and Field Athlete of the Year… Helped his team to a county championship in 2014 and a second place finish in states… Also competed in soccer, where he was a part of the state championship team in 2012... Son of Redi Lube and Tsehaye Abdajo… He has four siblings; Ababdu, Ababee, Durate and Beka… Lists favorite musical artist as Kendrick Lamar and favorite pro team as Manchester United.
