Kingsville, Md. – UMBC sophomore Matt Kingeter (Glencoe, Md./Hereford) paced the host Retrievers with an 18th place finish at the 2016 America East Cross Country Championships in a meet held at Jerusalem Mill on Oct. 30.
Kingeter covered the difficult 8k course in a time of 25:22.0 and earned his initial first-place finish for his team during his two campaigns.
Junior Rhys Burgett (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) was the Retrievers' second finisher, coming in 38th position in a time of 26:03.9, while sophomore Nathan Nadal (Silver Spring, Md./Wootton) finished in 49th place (26:17.2).
UMBC finished eighth overall, as Stony Brook (45) edged Maine (46) for the team title. Black Bear Jesse Orach was the medalist of the meet, finishing at 24:35.3.
The Retrievers will compete in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals at Penn State on Fri., Nov. 11.
