Bethlehem, Pa. – After a three-week layoff from competition, the UMBC men's cross country team returned to action on Saturday, Oct. 1, competing in one of the nation's largest meets, the Paul Short Run, held on Lehigh University's Goodman Campus course.
For the first time in his career, UMBC junior Urgy Eado (Rockville, Md./Wootton) was the first Retriever to cross the line, trimming over a minute off his time at Navy and coming in at 24:58 over the 8k trek. Eado placed 108th of the 366 competitors in the field.
Freshman Matt Bennett (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) was UMBC's second finisher, completing the course in a time of 25:35 and placing 185th.
Iona won the meet, placing five runners in the top 12.
UMBC gets back to action on Saturday, Oct. 15 when they compete in the Princeton Invitational.
