Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC track and field junior Alexios Prodanas (Kilkis, Greece) will head to Austin, Texas for the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday, becoming the third Retriever in the past two years to compete at the national meet. Prodanas qualified for the championships in the hammer throw, placing 12th in the prelims in Jacksonville.

How He Got Here:
Alexios Prodanas will make his first appearance at the national finals after a throw of 66.38m in the prelims in Jacksonville. He got to Jacksonville with his toss of 68.01m at the Bucknell Team Challenge that not only earned him a spot in Jacksonville, but also broke the school record in the event. He earned silver at the America East Championships, just being edged out by teammate Manos Kamtsiklis.
