Larry Ellis Results | Bucknell Team Challenge Results

Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC track and field hits the road with the squad splitting between the Larry Ellis Invitational and Bucknell Team Challenge on Saturday. The Retrievers are coming off a strong showing at the Mason Spring Invitational last weekend that saw Kelechi Nwanaga earn America East Female Field Performer of the Week after winning gold in the javelin. UMBC has just one more meet before the America East Championships in May.

Last Time Out (Mason Spring Invitational):

-Kelechi Nwanaga lead the women's side with gold in the javelin with a toss of 51.67m, good enough to qualify for ECAC competition in late May. Fellow thrower Eleni Zotou took seventh in the hammer throw to with a throw of 46.37m to lead the field athletes.

-Erin Patrice earned a pair of top ten finishes to lead the runners, finishing fourth in the 100m (12.16) and seventh in the 200m (25.04). Amani Wallace finished just behind her in the 200m with an eighth place finish in 25.04. Briana Roberts and Bridgett Redding went eight-nine in the 800m with times of 2:13.13 and 2:13.15 respectively. Tori Johnson and Kaya Knake each finished with top times in the 400m (10th, 58.36) and the 1,500m (14th, 4:38.41) to round out the field.

-A trio of Retrievers finished in the top six in the 5,000m, led by Matt Kingeter. Kingeter took second place with a time of 14:53.58. Nathan Nadal and Matthew Kane finished the race in third and sixth with times of 14:55.22 and 15:08.37 respectively. Chris Thoms took eighth in 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:00.50 with Trenson Terry and Taylor Baranoski rounding out the runners in the 400m hurdles (12th, 57.18) and the 800m (13th, 1:52.61) respectively.

-Manos Kamtsiklis led the field athletes with a silver in the hammer throw with a toss of 57.71m. Andrew Haberman was just behind him in sixth with a toss of 53.07m. Rodney Sachiti earned a pair of top ten finishes in the long jump (4th, 6.65m) and triple jump (9th, 13.74m), with Jameer Robinson taking tenth in the javelin (52.19m) and Trenson Terry finishing fifth in the long jump (6.63m).

-The Retrievers will have their final tune-up before the America East Championships in Albany at the historic Penn Relays next Thursday through Saturday.
