Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC track and field returns to action in the final meet before the America East Championships at the Penn State Tune-Up on Saturday. The Retrievers will be competing for the first time in two weeks, last participating in the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup on February 2.

Last Time Out (Sykes & Sabock Challenge):
-Alexios Prodanas continued his strong indoor campaign by resetting his career and school record best at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup in the weight throw. This is the third time this season Prodanas has set the mark this winter. Prodanas finished the event in second place with a toss of 19.54m breaking his previous best mark of 18.98m at the NYC Gotham Cup. Fellow countryman Manos Kamtsiklis finished in fifth place in the event with a toss of 17.57m.
-Trenson Terry, Rodney Sachiti and Divinus Muteba also had top ten finishes in the field. Terry took seventh in the long jump (6.56m) with Sachiti taking sixth in the triple jump (13.51m) and Muteba taking third in the high jump (1.97m).
-Terry also finished in the top ten on the track taking ninth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.02. Sean Wissman also earned a ninth place finish in the 60m dash in a time of 7.18 to round out the top sprinters. Miles Smith, Nick Gabrielli and Matt Kane rounded out the top runners in the 800m (8th, 1:53.11), 600m (7th, 1:24.78) and the mile (11th, 4:17.19) respectively.
-Erin Patrice led the women with two top finishes in the 60m and 200m dashes. She crossed the finish line in the 60m in eighth place in a time of 7.95 and the 200m in 13th in a time of 25.77. Tori Johnson rounded out the top sprinters with a ninth place finish in the 400m with a time of 58.15.
-Kaya Knake and Kelsey Ponton each had ninth place finishes in their respective events. Knake finished the mile in ninth place in a time of 5:01.55 while Ponton finished the 3,000m in 10:25.30. The 4x400m relay team of Johnson, Knake, Ariella Garcia and Collese Daley finished sixth in 3:52.20.
-In the field, Kelechi Nwanaga led the way with a seventh place finish in the shot put with a toss of 13.80m.
Last Year at Penn State Tune-Up:
-The men's strong day was led in the 1,000m event, where they swept the podium. Ifa Eado took the gold with a time of 2:28.57, and Miles Smith and Gavin Prather took second and third respectively with times of 2:30.01 and 2:34.94. Jamal Cody took the silver in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.64, while Erik Jenks took second as well in the 400m with a time of 52.50. Samuel Enomanna took fourth in the same event with a time of 53.14.
-Nathan Trowell-Lopez also earned the silver with a time of 2:01.11 in the 800m. Nathan Nadal earned the bronze in 3,000m, crossing the line in 8:32.78. In the 4x400 relay, the team of Jenks, Eado, Smith, and Rhys Burgett earned second place with a time of 3:26.28.
-In the field, the men were led in the weight throw. Michael Parkent, Russell Bowman and Andrew Haberman earned top five finishes in weight throw. Parkent tossed a distance of 15.46 for the silver, Bowman a distance of 14.76 for the bronze, and Haberman 14.37 to earn fourth.
-On the women's side, Kaya Knake and Briana Roberts took first and second in the 1,000m. Knake ran a time of 3:00.41 and Roberts a time of 3:04.31. In the 60m dash, Kara Patrice and Erin Patrice took the silver and bronze, with times of 7.84 and 7.972 respectively. Also in the 60m dash, Collese Daley crossed the line fourth in 7.979.
-Tori Johnson took the bronze in the 400m with a time of 58.26, and Funmi Daramola took fourth with a time of 59.04. Amani Wallace earned the bronze in the 200m dash, crossing the line in 25.35, while Erin Patrice earned another top-five finish, with a time of 25.51.
-In the field, Ricca Graham tossed a distance of 14.07m to earn fourth in the weight throw, while Kelechi Nwanaga recorded a distance of 11.20m in the shot put to take fifth.
-The Retrievers will head to Boston for the 2019 America East Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday, February 22-23. Nine teams will compete for the title as UMass Lowell and UAlbany look to defend their crowns.
