Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC track and field kicks off the 2018-19 indoor season at the Fastrack Season Opener on Saturday in New York. The Retrievers set numerous records last indoor season with the men finishing in seventh place in the America East and the women in eighth.

Quick Hits on Last Year:
-The Retriever men finished seventh in the America East last indoor season, and had several strong performances by a number of athletes. Jamal Cody earned silver at the America East Championships in the 60m dash with the third fastest time in school history.
-The women were led by Kaya Knake, who set a school record in the 800m run at the championships with a time of 2:10.97. Tori Johnson earned bronze in the 500m dash and teamed up with Amani Wallace, Yinka Alabi and Funmi Daramola for a silver medal in the 4x400m relay.
-In all, there were eight different Retrievers who earned top ten finishes in school history. On the men's side; Brian Nelson (60m dash), Taylor Baranoski (mile), Michael Parkent (weight throw), and Jamal Cody (60m hurdles) earned top ten finishes while the women saw Amani Wallace (400m dash), Kaya Knake (800m run-school record, 1,000m run), Bridgett Redding (1,000m run) and Zoya Trendafilova (high jump) earn school marks.
-The Retrievers will have a month long hiatus before returning to action on January 12 at the Great Dane Classic. The meet will be held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
