New Orleans—UMBC track and field senior Vincent Rentzsch (Oranienburg, Germany/Elite Sportschule Potsdam) joined the ranks of head coach David Bobb and Cleopatra Borel as being the lone Retriever track and field athletes to earn multiple All-American honors in their careers. For Rentzsch, he earned his third honorable mention award this week after capping his career at the NCAA Championships earlier this month.

The Germany native finished with a toss of 69.27m in the second flight of the finals. He finished ahead of competitors from Texas A&M, Ohio State and High Point.

Curtis Thompson won the event with a throw of 77.64m, just one meter ahead of NCAA East Preliminary winner John Ampomah of Middle Tennessee State.

Rentzsch ends his career having went to three NCAA Championships, owning the school record in the javelin with his toss of 74.28m set earlier this year at the Raleigh Relays.
