Eugene, Ore.—UMBC track and field senior Vincent Rentzsch capped his stellar career as a Retriever with a 21st place finish in the javelin at the 2016 NCAA Championships.
The Germany native finished with a toss of 69.27m in the second flight of the finals. He finished ahead of competitors from Texas A&M, Ohio State and High Point.
Curtis Thompson won the event with a throw of 77.64m, just one meter ahead of NCAA East Preliminary winner John Ampomah of Middle Tennessee State.
Rentzsch ends his career having went to three NCAA Championships, owning the school record in the javelin with his toss of 74.28m set earlier this year at the Raleigh Relays.
