Raleigh, N.C.—Senior Vincent Rentzsch broke his own school record in the javelin on Saturday, as the Retrievers concluded the Raleigh Relays. UMBC broke two school records this weekend, as Hassan Omar broke the school record in the 10,000m last night.
Rentzsch had a toss of 74.28m (243'8") to break his own school record by over ten feet. Christian Kallenberg finished seventh in the event with a toss of 58.22m (191') to rank second all-time in school history.
Other male field performers include Thomas Johnson with a 12th place finish in the triple jump at 14.34m.
The men's 4x800m relay squad of Urgy Eado, Rami Phillips, Brandon Bejarano and Ty Thronson placed fourth with a time of 7:40.41 to led the men on the track on Saturday. The 4x1500 quartet of Rhys Burgett, Patrick Duboyce, Jon Luckin, and Lorenzo Neil earned a top ten finish with a time of 16:28.72.
Essence Fredericks led the women on the track, taking tenth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.52. The 4x1500 relay team of Angelina Oputa, Sophia Cologer, Angel Bucci, and Katie Govatos placed eighth with a time of 19:28.39.
In the field, Abigale Slonski earned bronze in the javelin with a toss of 39.32m (129'). Nneoma Edokobi placed 20th in the hammer throw, finishing with a toss of 48.74m (159'11").
The Retrievers will return to the track next Thursday through Saturday, March 31-April 2 at the Florida Relays and Colonial Relays.
