
BALTIMORE—The UMBC men's and women's track and field teams competed at the 8th annual Morgan State Legacy Meet this weekend, earning five medals.
Senior Martin Nevarez (Casa Grande, Ariz./Central Arizona College) took home silver in the men's pole vault with a mark of 4.47m (14'8"), while junior Aaron Brooks (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dematha) earned silver in the men's discus throw with a heave of 46.95m (154').
In the men's 1,500-meter run, junior Tim Jones (New Market, Md./Linganore) earned bronze in 4:03.91, while freshman Eric Wood (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) crossed the line fifth in 4:06.94.
Sophomore Shioma Obemeata (New Rochelle, N.Y./Iona Preparatory/St. Francis College) earned bronze in the men's triple jump with a leap of 13.94m (45'9"), while freshman Mo Drammeh (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) placed seventh with a mark of 11.74m (38'6.25"). Drammeh also finished fifth in the high jump, hitting a height of 1.93m (6'4").
Freshman John Rybak (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) earned bronze in the decathlon with 4,873 points.
Junior Imani Colbert (Upper Marlboro, Md./C.H. Flowers) placed fifth in the women's 100-meter hurdles in 14.41, while senior Keith Brown (Columbia, Md./McDonough) finished sixth in the men's 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.01.
Brooks and sophomore Cameron McDearmon (Owings Mills, Md./Franklin) finished fifth and seventh in the men's shot put with marks of 15.09m (49'6.25") and 14.58m (47'10"), respectively. Junior Chrissy Robinson (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) placed sixth in the women's shot put with a throw of 12.54m (41'1.75").
Senior Cortney Crouse (Union Bridge, Md./Linganore) crossed the line sixth in the women's 1,500-meter run in 4:54.38.
The Retrievers return to action next weekend for the historic Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
