VESTAL, N.Y.-- Juniors Adrian Arthur (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and Antonio Thomas (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) each earned gold in individual events and were part of the men's 4x100-meter relay team that broke the America East Championship record as the UMBC men's track and field team finished fourth at the America East Outdoor Championships at Binghamton University. Sophomore Chrissy Robinson (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) won the women's shot put as the women's team finished ninth.
Arthur finished the 100-meter dash in 10.61 and Thomas earned silver in a 10.83, while Thomas took the 200-meter dash in 21.32 just ahead of Arthur, who took second in 21.35. Both men qualified for the IC4A Championships in the 100-meter dash and the NCAA Regional Championships in the 200-meter dash.
They were not finished, as juniors Mohamed Koroma (Mitchelville, Md./C.H. Flowers/Morgan State), Jason Powell (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt), Arthur and Thomas earned gold in the 4x100-meter relay in 41.17, breaking the America East Championship record by one-hundredth of a second.
Sophomore Victor Gilreath (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech/Maryland), a day after winning the men's high jump, broke the UMBC record in the triple jump, earning silver in a NCAA Regional-qualifying leap of 15.10m (49'6.5").
Junior Camal Pugh (Clinton, Md./Oxon Hill) earned silver in the 110-meter hurdles in an IC4A-qualifying time of 14.84, while senior Keith Brown (Columbia, Md./McDonough) placed third in 15.01.
On the women's side, Robinson earned gold in the shot put with a throw of 13.05m (42'9.75"), while sophomore Britney Foreman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) placed second in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.13. Junior Sara Parkinson (Chorley, England/Loughborough University) finished sixth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:39.00.
The Retrievers return to action at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Princeton, N.J. on May 15-17.
