Men's Tennis Falls in Opener at UTRGV

Edinburg, Texas – The UMBC men's tennis team opened the 2016 spring campaign, falling, 6-1, to host UT Rio Grande Valley in a match played at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.

Seniors Justin Carter (Randallstown, Md.) and Eliott Loubatie (Paris, France) won, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles, but the Retrievers dropped the doubles point.

Senior Alex Drean (Bayonne, France) captured the Retrievers' lone point of the match, defeating Ethan Ammon, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Carter captured a set at No. 1 singles, but fell, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.

UMBC has a day off before taking on Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Friday.
