A Trio of Retrievers Win Singles Flights at Navy Invitational

Annapolis – UMBC's Justin Carter (Randallstown, Md.), Elliot Loubatie (Paris, France) and Biyik Akinshemoyin (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) won their singles flights at the Navy Invitational, which concluded the Retrievers' fall campaign.  All three players swept their three matches in the three-day event.

Carter, a senior, captured the No. 1 singles flight with victories over Renire Moolman of St. Joseph's, Corey Robinson of Duquesne and Navy's Austin Jones.  Carter rallied to edge Jones on the final day, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

His classmate Loubatie swept his three matches at the No. 4 flight, prevailing over Navy's Krishna Jana, Duquesne's Harry Walshe and Loyola's Tyler Blessing.  He did not drop a set in the three victories.

Akinshemoyin, defeated St. Joseph's Kevin Gates, Navy's Andrey Majkic, and Loyola's Connor Pietrak. The Retriever junior shook off a 6-1 first set loss to Pietrak and triumphed, 4-6, 6-1, 6-0.
