Men's Tennis Blanks Morgan State, 7-0

BALTIMORE – The UMBC men's tennis team did not drop a set in a 7-0 victory over local rival Morgan State at Greenspring Racquet Club.

The Retrievers have won four of their last five matches and stand at 5-3 on the campaign.

Juniors Justin Carter (Randallstown, Md.) and Eliott Loubatie (Paris, France) set the tone for the match with a 6-0 blanking of their foes at No. 3 doubles. Juniors Melker Svard (Gothenburg, Sweden) and Jaan Kononov (Talinn, Estonia) clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 triumph over Erick Ward and Treajh Ferguson.

Loubatie went 18-for-18 in games played as he cruised at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0. His doubles partner, Carter finished second in singles, besting Lucas Krusinski, 6-2, 6-1. Svard clinched the match for the Retrievers at the No. 3 flight, upending Felix Andre, 6-0, 6-2.

The Retrievers get the day off tomorrow before meeting up with VCU in Richmond, Va. on Sunday.
