Four Retrievers Earn America East Men's Tennis All-Conference Honors

Mass.- Senior Joe Adewumi (Phoenix, Ariz.) capped his collegiate career by earning a pair of America East Conference honors as selected by the league's head coaches.

Adewumi was joined on the first team in singles by senior Cristian Hodel (Calarasi, Romania), while junior Gaulthier Berret (Lagny Sur Marne, France) earned second team honors in singles competition.

The duo of Adewumi and freshman Kamal Patel (Gaithersburg, Md./Seneca Valley) earned second team honors in doubles.

Competing primarily at No. 2 singles, Adewumi finished the season in outstanding form, winning matches vs. Navy and over Stony Brook in the league championships. He completed his singles career with a mark of 69-44.

Adewumi earned four all-conference honors in the past three seasons, two each in singles and doubles.

Hodel held down the No.1 spot throughout the season and peaked at the league championships, knocking off another first team member in Stony Brook's Nikita Fomin.

Berret claimed UMBC's lone point in the title match vs. Binghamton and has a 44-25 mark in three seasons in singles competition. He has earned all-league accolades in singles in each of his three seasons and has four overall honors.

Adewumi and Patel formed a tandem in early April and went 4-1, including a critical win overBinghamton at No. 3 doubles in the America East semifinals.
