Alexander Gliese (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) became the first Danish swimmer to post a sub-2 minute time in the 200 back as he broke his own national record at the 2019 Danish Open on Monday morning.

The senior broke his own record of 2:00.49, set back at last summer's Swim England Summer National Meet, with a time of 1:59.75 in the preliminary heat of the event. In the finals of the event, Gliese again reset the record as he earned gold in the event with a time of 1:59.58.

Last night, Gliese finished first in his second event of the meet, as he took home gold in the 50 back with a time of 26.0.
