BALTIMORE - The UMBC Swimming and Diving teams split a dual meet with crosstown rivals Towson on Thursday afternoon. The men defeated the Tigers, 169-131, while the women fell, 174-121.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN
The relay team of Emily Vance, Maddy Popalis, Sotiria Neofytou, and Haylee Committe took second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.77.
Hania Moro (New Cairo, Egypt) finished first in the 1000 free with a time of 10:17.11. Vanessa Esposito (Montreal, Quebec) finished fourth in a time of 10:49.08.
Moro and Laura Massicotte (Quebec City, Quebec) finished one-three in the 200 free. Moro touched in with a time of 1:51.99, while Massciotte reached the wall in a time of 1:54.75.
In the 100 back, Emily Vance (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) and Natalie Davis (Austin, Texas) finished three-four. Vance touched the wall in a time of 58.48, while Davis finished in a time of 59.01.
Popalis finished fifth in the 100 breast with a time of 1:08.31.
Natalija Marin (Belgrade, Serbia), Kelly Lajoie (East Longmeadow, Mass.), and Britt Driscoll (Wallingford, Conn.) finished two-three-five in the 200 fly. Marin touched in with a time of 2:04.82, followed by Lajoie in 2:09.81, while Driscoll reached the wall in a time of 2:11.36.
Committe finished second in the 50 free with a time of 24.24. Tonia Papapertrou (Nicosia, Cyprus) finished fourth with a time of 24.73, while Neofytou finished fifth in a time of 24.82.
In the 1 meter dive, Devin Gromen (Crofton, Md./Arundel) finished fourth with a score of 202.72. Abb Biddulph (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) finished fifth with a score of 201.60.
Biddulph finished third in the 3 meter dive with a score of 216.00.
Committe, Popalis, and Papapertrou finished three-four-five in the 100 free. Committe touched in with a time of 52.86, followed by Popalis in 54.61, with Papapertrou coming in at 54.73.
Davis finished fourth in the 200 back in a time of 2:08.12, while Caroline Sargent (Trumbull, Conn.) finished fifth in a time of 2:08.96.
Lily McCoy (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) and Holly Driscoll (Wallingford, Conn.) finished four-five in the 200 breast, with times of 2:28.89 and 2:30.52, respectively.
Moro and Massicotte finished one-two in the 500 free, with Moro touching in with a time of 5:01.71 followed by Massicotte at 5:05.47. Esposito finished fifth in a time of 5:18.21.
Marin finished second in the 100 free with a time of 57.61, while Neofytou finished third in a time of 57.98.
Massicotte finished the 200 IM in a time of 2:09.94, followed by Davis (2:11.15) and Lajoie (2:11.35).
The women's 400 free relay team of Moro, Papapertrou, Popalis, and Committe finished in a time of 3:34.16.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN
Rattsev finished first in the 200 free, touching the wall in a time of 1:42.53. Jonah Pennington (Kingwood, Texas) finished fourth in a time of 1:43.66.
Gliese and Garrett Wlochowski (Manchester, Conn.) finished one-two in the 100 back. Gliese touched the wall in a time of 51.01, while Wlochowski finished in 51.36. Satori Dobbie (Christchurch, New Zealand) finished fifth in a time of 52.51.
Kai Vilbig (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) finished third in the 100 breast with a time of 59.00, while Galvan Cardenas finished fourth in a time of 59.26.
Matt Bennici (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville), Jack Carlisle (Cape Town, South Africa), and Mac Hoskins (Columbia, Md./Mount St. Joseph's) finished two-three-four in the 200 fly. Bennici touched in with a time of 1:53.21, followed closely by Carlisle at 1:53.81. Hoskins reached the wall in a time of 1:55.25.
Asakawa finished second in the 50 free, touching in with a time of 21.18. Connor Ganley (Ellicott City, Md./Mount St. Joseph's) and Pennington finished four-five, with Ganley reaching the wall in 21.89 and Pennington coming in at 22.00.
Elijah Wright (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) finished first in the 1 meter dive with a score of 281.85. Ben Parker (Lawrenceville, Ga.) finished third with a score of 246.75 and Leo Buoye (Spencerport, N.Y.) finished fourth with a score of 242.17.
Wright and Parker finished one-two in the 3 meter dive, with Wright earning a score of 288.52 and Parker earning a score of 268.12. Buoye finished fourth with a score of 247.12.
Rattsev finished first in the 100 free with a time of 45.59, while Pennington finished fourth in 47.75 and Dobbie came in fifth with a time of 48.33.
Gliese was first in the 200 back with a time of 1:49.91, while Wlochowski, Jeremy Gates (Escondido, Calif.), and Luka Zuric (Setauket, N.Y.) finished three-four-five. Wlochowski touched the wall in 1:53.00, followed by Gates at 1:54.82, and Zuric in 1:55.47.
Galvan Cardenas and Vilbig finished two-four in the 200 breast in times of 2:08.48 and 2:13.82, respectively.
Wisner finished first in the 500 free with a time of 4:37.05.
Carlisle, Asakawa, and Dobbie finished two-three in the 100 fly. Carlisle touched in with a time of 51.63, followed by Asakawa and Dobbie with a time of 51.83.
Gliese finished second in the 200 IM in a time of 1:55.07, followed by Galvan Cardenas (fourth; 1:57.17) and Bennici (1:57.72).
The 400 free relay team of Asakawa, Pennington, Dobbie, and Rattsev finished first in a time of 3:06.29.
