Wahby, Wright Named CCSA Swimmer and Diver of the Week

Charlotte, N.C.—UMBC swimming and diving freshmen Ahmed Wahby (Maadi, Egypt/Victory American College) and Elijah Wright (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) earned CCSA (Coastal Collegiate Sports Association) Swimmer and Diver of the Week honors, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Wahby picked up a pair of individual victories in the Retrievers 100-79 victory against the Howard Bison on Saturday. The Egypt native was a winner in the 200 IM and 100 free with times of 1:55.59 and 47.68 respectively.

Wright swept both diving disciplines for the Dawgs, on his way to winning his sixth CCSA Diver of the Week award. The local product scored a 280.12 on the 1 meter board, while also scoring a 259.35 on the 3 meter board.

The Retrievers return to the pool in the regular season finale at East Carolina on Saturday, Jan. 23. The meet with the Pirates is slated for 1 p.m.
