Charlotte, N.C.—UMBC Swimming and Diving freshmen Alexander Gliese (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) and Leo Buoye (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) earned CCSA (Coastal Collegiate Sports Association) Swimmer and Diver of the Week honors, the conference announced Wednesday.
Gliese continues to impress in his first year on campus. This past weekend, Gliese won two events, and finished second in another. He won the 1,000 free in a time of 9:44.65 and the 200 back with a time of 1:53.07. His second place finish came in the 200 IM after he touched in at 2:00.20.
Buoye picked up his first two wins on the board in his collegiate career on Saturday. He recorded scores of 217.42 on the 1 meter board, while scoring a 237.30 on the 3 meter.
The Retrievers are back in action this Saturday, Oct. 31 at Virginia Tech. The tri-meet with the host Hokies and CCSA foe Gardner-Webb begins at noon from the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Blacksburg, Va.
