INDIANAPOLIS – UMBC junior Mohamed Hussein (Cairo, Egypt/Victory College) reset another one of his school records and finished 37th overall while competing in the 200-yd freestyle, Friday afternoon on Day Two of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the IU Natatorium.
Hussein finished fourth in heat two of seven with a new personal-best time of 1:36.55, just edging his previous school record mark of 1:36.83.
Southern California's Cristian Quintero posted the top time of the round by clocking in at 1:33.21 while Dax Hill of Texas claimed the final spot in the finals with a time of 1:33.88.
Competing at his first NCAA Championships, Hussein has broken his UMBC school records in both the 200 IM and 200 freestyle events over the first two days of competition. He will conclude the national meet by competing in the 200 backstroke Saturday morning.
