BALTIMORE – Over winter break, the UMBC swimming and diving team completed a weeklong training trip to South Florida. While in the Sunshine State, the Retrievers completed two practices per day at The St. Andrews School in Boca Raton, Fla. in preparation for the second half of the 2012-13 season, as well as the America East Championships in February.
"I feel like the team was in great spirits and we got a lot accomplished on the trip," said head coach Chad Cradock. "Overall the trip will help us tremendously for the second half of our season and especially at championships."
In addition to the two-a-day training sessions, the Retrievers practiced with and competed against the University of Pennsylvania on New Year's Day.
Away from the rigorous training regimen, the team was able to get time off to relax on the beach, go bowling on New Year's Eve and play miniature golf.
