Last Time Out

In a match-up of conference finalists from a year ago, visiting Hofstra scored the game's lone goal in the 57th minute and edged UMBC, 1-0, before 883 fans in warm conditions at Retriever Soccer Park. UMBC fell to 0-2 for the first time since 2005 and just the second time in 34 years of NCAA Division I (1986) competition.

UMBC outshot HU, 12-11, including 8-6 in the final 45 minutes, but only managed to put one shot on frame.

Freshman Ryan Becher (Hummelstown, Pa.) started alongside his brother, sophomore Jackson, on Friday vs. UIW, becoming the ninth brother combination to compete for UMBC.

Junior Sammy Dupuy (Santiago, Chile/Longwood) tallied his third intercollegiate goal versus UIW. He scored twice in 2017 as a member of the Longwood Lancers. His first tally came versus the N.C. State Wolfpack.

The attendance figure of 2,208 on Friday moves into eighth place on the all-time list at Retriever Soccer Park.

Senior back Jon Bell (Silver Spring, Md./Richard Montgomery) recorded his seventh career assist on the Dupuy goal.

UMBC's 0-2 start is their first since a similar beginning to the 2005 season. The Retrievers opened that campaign at 1-3-1 before completing an 8-2-2 stretch and eventual 9-6-3 (6-2-0 America East) record.

Scouting the Peacocks

St. Peter's pounded 13 shots on goal at St. Joseph's and defeated the Hawks, 2-1, on August 30.

The Hawks opened the scoring in the 18', but Tom Coulson buried a free kick in the 42' to knot the score at 1-all at the break. Immanuel Sierck tallied the game-winner with 10:25 remaining.  Robbie Anderson made three saves to earn the victory in the nets.

The Peacocks were 8-9-4 a year ago and 5-4-1 versus MAAC competition. They scored 27 goals and allowed 26.

Four players that scored 24 of St. Peter's 27 goals a year ago return in 2019. Junior forward Dominic Laws led the squad with 8 goals and 19 total points in 2018, while junior M/F Jordan Jowers tallied seven goals.  Jowers was selected as a member of the 2019 Preseason All-MAAC Team.

Anderson, who started four goals a year ago, takes over as the starter in 2019.

All-Time Series

This will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2002.

The Retrievers have won both previous match-ups, triumphing 7-3 in Jersey City in 1992 and 1-0, in overtime in Baltimore in 2002.
