Boston, Mass.-- Sophomore Cesare Marconi (Loano, Italy) and junior Jon Bell (Silver Spring, Md./Richard Montgomery) earned America East All-Conference Second Team, leading a team of five Retrievers to earn all-conference honors, the America East announced on Friday.
Both Marconi and Bell are on the all-conference team for the first times in their careers. Marconi leads the Retrievers with 14 points on five goals and four assists. He has taken a team best 59 shots with 25 going on goal. Bell returned from a knee injury early in the year, and has recorded an assist in 2018 from the back line.
Quantrell Jones (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) and Jordan Ehart (Severna Park, Md./Mount St. Joseph) were named to the All-Rookie Team. Jones took over goalkeeper duties last month and have posted stellar numbers in net. He has played in 10 matches, giving up just eight goals (0.79 GAA) making 28 saves (.778 save pct) with four shutouts and a 6-1-2 record. Ehart has played in 16 games, making 15 starts, playing in all but the last game of the year on the back line. He started the year on the outside before moving inside late in the year.
David Harris (Waimanalo, Hawaii) earned a spot on the All-Academic Team. Harris has a 3.52 GPA, majoring in Biology. Harris has played mostly on the back line for UMBC, recording one shot in 12 matches.
Geo Alves of Vermont was named Striker of the Year, with Marteion Watson of Stony Book being named Midfielder of the Year. Teammate Christian Miesch earned Rookie of the Year with a pair of New Hampshire Wildcats, Josh Bauer and Lars Huxsohl being named Defender and Goalkeeper of the Year. Stony Brook took home Coaching Staff of the Year after winning their second America East Regular Season title in program history.
The Retrievers open the America East Tournament tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 3 against #4 Vermont. Kickoff is at noon with the winner playing #1 Stony Brook on Wednesday.
