Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC men's soccer heads to Vermont to take on the Catamounts in the America East Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon. UMBC earned the five seed in the tournament after a 2-2 draw with regular season champ Stony Brook on Wednesday. UMBC is in the tournament for the ninth time in ten years, sitting at 9-5-3 on the year.

Scouting the Retrievers:
-UMBC enters the conference tournament as the five seed at 9-5-3, 3-3-1 AE on the year after earning a come-from-behind 2-2 draw against regular season champion Stony Brook on Wednesday. The Retrievers got goals from James Gielen (Edgewater, Md./DeMatha) and Nick Gumbs (Clarksburg, Md./Damsacus) in the second half.
-Cesare Marconi (Loano, Italy) leads the team with 14 points on five goals and four assists. He has taken a team best 59 shots with 25 on goal. Gielen and Matt Bailey (Stevensville, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) each have four goals with three of Gielen's goals coming on penalty kicks.
-Quantrell Jones (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) seen the most action in net this year, playing in ten matches, starting nine of them. He has given up eight goals (0.79 GAA) with 28 saves (.778 save pct) with four shutouts and a 6-1-2 record.
Scouting the Catamounts:
-The Catamounts come into the match at 11-7, 4-3 AE after a 1-0 loss to New Hampshire on the final match day. Vermont is 7-2 at Virtue Field this year, going just 3-5 in road matches.
-Geo Alves leads the Catamounts with ten goals and three assists for 23 points. He has 81 shots with 39 shots on goal. Justin Freitas has netted six goals with six assists for 18 points. Five different Catamounts have double digit goals on the year.
