Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC men's soccer welcomes Hartford to Retriever Soccer Park on Saturday, looking to build upon their two game unbeaten streak. The match with the Hawks starts a string of four straight home matches. Most recently the Retrievers battled Penn to a scoreless draw on Tuesday night to move to 5-4-2, 1-2-0 AE on the year. The team will honor the 2003 and 2013 teams during halftime on Saturday.

Scouting the Retrievers:
-UMBC comes into the contest at 5-4-2, 1-2 AE on the year after going 1-0-1 in their last two contests. The Retrievers battled Penn to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday night in Philadelphia. Last Saturday, UMBC knocked off UMass Lowell 3-1 for their first win in conference. Sophomore Matt Bailey (Stevensville, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) netted his first two collegiate goals in the win.
-Sophomore Cesare Marconi (Loano, Italy) leads the Retriever offense with three goals and three assists for nine points. Tre Pulliam (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley), Kyle Saunderson (Laurel, Md./Reservoir), James Gielen (Edgewater, Md./DeMatha) and Bailey each have two goals on the year as seven different Retrievers have found the back of the net.
-In net, Quantrell Jones (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) has started the past two matches, and is 2-0-1 on the year. He has posted two shutouts, giving up just two goals (0.54 GAA), making nine saves (.818 save pct.) on the year.
Scouting the Hawks:
-The Hawks come to Baltimore at 1-7-4 on the year, dropping their most recent America East match to Vermont last Saturday. Their lone win came against UAlbany in late September and are 1-4-1 in home matches and 0-3-3 on the road.
-Xahne Reid leads the Hartford offense with three goals and three assists for nine points. He has 31 shots, two times more than the next closest Hawk. Sergi Martinez and Kamer Nuhiu have each scored twice with a total of six Hawks scoring goals.
-Jimmy Slayton has played every minute in net for the Hawks in 2018. He has given up 20 goals (1.53 GAA), making 48 saves with one shutout.
-The Retrievers and Hawks will be meeting for the 21st time in the all-time series with UMBC holding a slim 10-7-3 lead. However, the Hawks have won the last two meetings by a score of 1-0 and are 2-0-1 in the last three.
-UMBC had won the past five meetings before 2015, including the 2014 America East Championship game.
Honoring '03 and '13 Teams:
-During halftime, the Retrievers will honor the 2003 and 2013 teams. Both teams won America East titles, with the '03 team winning the first America East title for UMBC in their first year in the league.
-The 2003 squad was the first UMBC team to win an America East Championship, earning the regular season crown. The team also hosted the first America East Playoff game for UMBC.
-The 2013 team finished as high as fifth in the national polls, and finished second nationally in RPI. The team not only won the America East Regular Season crown, but also the America East Tournament title and earned a top 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The team finished the season with a 16-3-1 record, the best win percentage in the nation that year, and is still the only UMBC team to host an NCAA Tournament game.
