Baltimore, Md.—Fresh off a 1-0 season opening win against Temple, UMBC men's soccer welcomes the Scarlet Knights to Retriever Soccer Park on Monday night. Freshman Jackson Becher (Hummelstown, Pa.) netted the game winner in the second half off a Cesare Marconi (Loano, Italy) corner kick.

Scouting the Retrievers:

-The Retrievers are coming off a 1-0 victory against Temple in the season opener on Friday. Freshman Jackson Becher netted the game winner in the 79' off a Cesare Marconi corner kick to propel UMBC to the win. Both Becher and Marconi were playing in their first game as a Retriever.

-Becher recorded two shots off the bench to lead the team with Colin Weyant (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall). In net, sophomore Ciaran O'Loughlin (Birkenhead, England) posted his fifth career shutout, stopping both Temple shots on goal.

Scouting the Scarlet Knights:

-Rutgers is coming off a 3-0 loss to Loyola (Md.) on Friday night. The Greyhounds scored all three goals in the second half, outshooting the Scarlet Knights 14-9 in the match.

-Jordan Hall led Rutgers with three shots, while Brian Hawkins added a pair in the loss. Rafael Pereiera played all 90 minutes in net, making five saves on nine shots on goal.

All-Time Series:

-This will be the first meeting in the all-time series with Rutgers.

-The Retrievers continue their four-game home stand against College of Charleston on Friday, Aug. 31. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Retriever Soccer Park.
