Baltimore, Md.—UMBC men's soccer will welcome the Bison to Retriever Soccer Park on Monday night after the Retrievers took down Bryant, 1-0 in the season opener. Junior Kyle Saunderson (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) scored the game winner in the 55th minute, moving UMBC to 1-0 on the year.

Scouting the Retrievers (1-0):
-UMBC is coming off a 1-0 victory against Bryant to open the 2017 season on Friday. Junior Kyle Saunderson scored the game winner in the 55th minute after the Retrievers earned five corner kicks in a row. Sophomore Colin Weyant (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) swung the ball in from the right corner, finding Saunderson on the other end who put it past the keeper.
-Saunderson scored his first collegiate goal in the victory, leading the team with two points. Sophomore Tre McCalla (Toronto, Ontario) and senior Gregg Hauck (Linthicum, Md./North County) led the team with two shots each.
-Freshman goalkeeper Ciaran O'Loughlin (Birkenhead, England) recorded three saves in his first collegiate match, earning the shutout and win against Bryant.
Scouting the Bison (0-1):
-Howard comes to Baltimore after dropping their season opener, 1-0 to High Point on Friday. After a scoreless first half, the Panthers broke through in the 58th minute to take the match 1-0.
-Five different Bison recorded shots against High Point, with Javauni Garwood and Joel Pagan getting shots on goal.
-Carlos Caro started in net for Howard, giving up one goal in 90 minutes. He recorded five saves on six shots faced.
All-Time Series:
-The Bison and Retrievers will be meeting for the 18th time in the series with UMBC holding a 13-2-2 record, including wins in the last five.
-UMBC picked up a 3-0 win last year, and have not lost to Howard since 2002. Over the past five meetings, UMBC has outscored Howard 15-2 with four matches being played at Retriever Soccer Park.
Last Time We Met:
-The two sides met last year with the Retrievers blanking the Bison 3-0 on September 20.
-Tre Pulliam (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) got the scoring started with a goal in the 11th minute off a rebound from a Cormac Noel (Todmorden, England) shot. Classmate Colin Weyant added to the tally just before the half on a shot that beat the keeper off a Gregg Hauck assist.
-Pulliam put the game away early in the second half, placing a ball past the Howard goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the season.
