Baltimore, Md.—UMBC men's soccer kicks off the Westin/Sheraton BWI Classic against the Seahawks on Friday night. The Retrievers are coming off a 1-1 draw against Fordham last Friday. Sophomore Patrick Jean-Gilles (Woodbridge, Va./South County) scored the lone Retriever goal in the contest.

Scouting the Retrievers:

-UMBC returns to the pitch for The Westin/Sheraton BWI Classic against UNC Wilmington on Friday after an opening game tie against Fordham. Sophomore Patrick Jean-Gilles got UMBC on the board early in the second half before the Rams tied it.

-Jean-Gilles led the way with one goal on three shots, as junior Cormac Noel also had three shots. Senior goalkeeper Billy Heavner made four stops in net, giving up just one goal against the Rams.

-The Retrievers return a slew of all-conference performers in senior Billy Heavner, junior Gregg Hauck, and sophomores Patrick Jean-Gilles and Kyle Saunderson.

Scouting the Seahawks:

-UNC Wilmington comes to Baltimore after displacing Campbell in their season opener, 4-1 last Friday. The Seahawks got a multi-goal game from Stian Sandbekkhaug, as well as goals from Kalvin Kromer and Phillip Goodrum.

-Sandbekkhaug had two goals on three shots, totaling four points. Kromer added an assist and a goal as the Seahawks peppered the Camels goalkeeper with 20 shots (11 on goal). Ryan Cretens made just one stop in net while allowing a goal to earn the victory.

All-Time Series:

-UMBC and UNC Wilmington have met just once before, with both teams battling to a 1-1 tie back in 1979.
