Malcolm Harris Named First Team All-East

KANSAS CITY – UMBC senior back Malcolm  Harris (Damascus, Md./McDonogh) earned NSCAA First Team All-East region honors, the association announced this week.

At the NCAA Division I level, Harris becomes the 12th Retriever overall and the sixth in the last three seasons to earn the top regional award.

Harris, a team captain, opened the 2015 campaign as an attacking midfielder, but moved to left back early in the season. He solidified an inexperienced UMBC backline and was tabbed as America East Conference's Defender of the Year in early November. The local product also earned AE First Team honors.

In America East play, UMBC tied for the league-lead with three shutouts. Harris, who earned three letters at UMBC after transferring from the University of Denver, contributed three assists in 2015 and recorded four goals and 14 assists in his 84-game collegiate career.
