Caringi Earns NSCAA and America East Top Weekly Honors

Senior forward Pete Caringi III (Perry Hall, Md./Calvert Hall) started his season with a bang and netted national recognition from the NSCAA, the America East Conference, Top Drawer Soccer and  College Soccer News.

Caringi was named the NCAA Division I Men's Disney Soccer/NSCAA Player of the Week for games ending Sept. 1. He also earned Player of the Week honors from the America East Conference and was selected to Teams of the Week in both Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News.

Caringi earned three Player of the Week awards from the America East Conference in 2012.

The 2012 America East Striker of the Year scored two goals each in 3-1 victories over Seattle U. and UNLV in 3-1 Retriever victories and was named Most Valuable Player in the tournament. His two first half goals vs. Seattle (10', 25') staked UMBC to a 2-0 lead. With Sunday's game knotted at 1-1 at the break, he tallied 22 seconds into the second half and added an insurance goal on a PK in the 67' to ice the triumph.

Caringi recorded his fifth and sixth career multiple-goal efforts in back-to-back contests. He now has 28 career goals and needs one more to move into a tie for tenth place on the school's all-time goals list.
