BALTIMORE- The UMBC men's soccer team was ranked No. 28 in the final College Soccer Newsnational poll, which was released at the conclusion of the 2012 season.
The ranking was the highest by a Retriever soccer team since that website debuted in 2000. In that year, UMBC was ranked No. 29, as the squad finished the campaign with a record of 15-5-0. The Retrievers received votes in the 2010 poll after they advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and finished the season at 12-4-4.
UMBC received 24 votes (29th overall) in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll.
Top Drawer Soccer ranked UMBC No. 31 in their final rankings of the season and selected five Retrievers in the America East's Top 20. Junior forward Pete Caringi III (Perry Hall, Md./Calvert Hall) as the top selection at No. 2, followed by senior back Liam Paddock (Worcestershire, England/Chase Technology College) (No. 5), senior midfielder Milo Kapor (Toronto, Ont./Emily Carr) (No. 7), junior midfielder Kadeem Dacres (Rosedale, N.Y./Mercer County CC) (No. 13) and sophomore back Oumar Ballo (Baltimore,Md./Archbishop Curley/CCBC-Essex) (No. 19).
UMBC was ranked No. 43 in the final NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) report.
